Sketch Guess

Sketch Guess (shown in the builder as Scrawl) is a draw-and-guess activity. One player sketches a secret word on a shared canvas while everyone else races to type the answer. It's fast, social, and works beautifully as an icebreaker or an energiser.

How players experience it

1. Each round, one player becomes the drawer and is dealt a few word options to choose from. They pick one, and the audience never sees the choices.
2. The drawer sketches on the canvas using different pen colours and widths, with undo and clear to fix mistakes. Their strokes appear live on everyone else's screen.
3. Everyone else watches and guesses by typing into a chat-style feed. A hint shows one blank per letter, and a few letters gradually reveal as the round clock runs down.
4. Guesses are judged on the server, so the word never leaks. A correct guess shows only as "X guessed it!", and the word itself stays hidden. Near-misses get a "so close" nudge; wrong guesses appear in the feed for everyone to see.
5. When the timer runs out, or everyone has guessed it, the round ends with a reveal showing the word, the drawing, and the current top scores. Then the drawing turn rotates to the next player.

Guessers earn points for solving, plus a speed bonus. The faster you guess, the more you score. The drawer earns points too, for each player who guesses their word.

Setting one up as a host

When you add a Sketch Guess activity, you configure:

• Word set. Pick a ready-made bank (Easy, Medium, or Hard) or go Custom and write your own. You can also add extra on-theme or inside-joke words on top of a set.
• Round length. How many seconds each word gets before the round ends.
• Rounds. End with a podium after 5, 10, or 15 words, or choose No limit to keep going until you move on to the next activity.

Everyone takes turns drawing. As the host, you join as a participant to draw a round yourself.

Tips

• Start with Easy for mixed groups or kids. Everyday objects are quick to draw and guess.
• Keep rounds short. A snappy timer keeps the energy up and the guesses flying.
• Add a few custom words on your theme for an instant in-joke that lands with your group.
