Spin the wheel

The host spins a wheel of names or options live, and the whole room watches it land on a winner together.

Spin the wheel is a live random picker. The host builds a wheel out of names or options, presses spin, and everyone in the room watches the same wheel turn and land on a winner together. It's perfect for choosing who goes next, drawing a raffle, picking a prize, or settling "what's for lunch?".

How players experience it

Players don't tap or answer anything. This one is all about the shared moment:

  1. Everyone sees the same wheel on their screen, made up of the entries the host set up.
  2. When the host spins, every screen turns together and lands on the same segment at the same time.
  3. The winner is announced with a crown. If a player is on the wheel and their own name comes up, they get a little "That's you! 🎉" moment.

Only the host has the spin button, so the room simply watches and reacts.

Setting one up as a host

When you add a Spin the wheel activity to your Roo, you choose what goes on the wheel:

  • Title (optional). A prompt shown above the wheel, e.g. "Who presents next week?".
  • Who's on the wheel. Pick one of two sources:
    • Joined players. The wheel uses everyone in the room at the moment you spin, so it stays up to date as people join.
    • Custom list. Your own entries (prizes, topics, teams, names…). You can add up to 24 entries, and each entry can be up to 40 characters.
  • Remove the winner after each spin (Raffle mode). Turn this on and each winner drops out of later spins, so every spin crowns someone new until the wheel runs down.

The wheel needs at least two entries to spin. When you're live, press Spin to draw a winner; the button then becomes Spin again for the next round.

Tips

  • Use Joined players for turn-taking so the wheel always reflects who's actually in the room.
  • Turn on Raffle mode for giveaways. It walks through everyone without repeats.
  • Keep custom entries short so they're easy to read as the wheel turns.

If you just want a quick, fair way to pick someone or something, add a Spin the wheel, choose your source, and you're ready to spin.
