Wordscape

Wordscape is a word-finding activity. Players are given a small set of letters and a crossword-style grid of blank tiles. By swiping the letters into different combinations, they uncover the hidden words that fill the grid. It's a satisfying, puzzle-y activity that rewards quick thinking and a good vocabulary.

How players experience it

1. Each player sees a grid of empty tiles at the top and a circle of scrambled letters at the bottom.
2. They swipe to link letters together to spell a word. If the word is one of the hidden answers, its tiles light up and fill in on the grid, with a satisfying sound.
3. A wrong combination simply shakes and clears, so players can try again straight away. There's no penalty for guessing.
4. Players keep finding words until they've uncovered them all (or the round's timer runs out). Finding the last word ends the round early.
5. Some puzzles also hide bonus words, valid words made from the same letters that aren't part of the grid. Spotting one earns a little extra.

In host-run (presenter) sessions there's a shared countdown, so speed matters. In self-paced Roos there's no shared clock, so players simply work through the puzzle at their own pace.

How scoring works

• Each main word you uncover earns points. The puzzle's points are shared across the words to find, and answering faster earns more.
• Bonus words are worth a small extra reward on top.
• Re-submitting a word you've already found doesn't score again, so each word counts once.

Setting one up as a host

When you add a Wordscape activity, you build it around a set of words that all share the same letters:

• Use "Pick words" to choose from ready-made letter sets. Each set is a group of words that can be spelled from a common pool of letters (for example TEND, TEN, END, DEN, DENT, NET).
• Tikroo automatically arranges the chosen words into a connected crossword-style layout.
• Use "Rearrange words" to regenerate the layout if you'd like a different arrangement.
• Adjust the grid size with the plus and minus controls to give the puzzle more or less room (the grid stays square).

A new Wordscape starts out already loaded with a ready-to-play puzzle, so you can drop one in and go, or swap in a different word set.

Tips

• Pick a set with a satisfying range. A mix of short and longer words keeps players hunting for that last tricky one.
• Watch the grid size. A larger grid gives the layout breathing room; a tighter one packs the words closer together.
• Great as an energiser or a brain-teaser break between heavier activities.
